Local Wool Study:

These are my own appreciations after knitting with the yarn

@alpacaselcamino project is one of my favourite yarns to work, as it is quite different from the rest of the yarns I usually knit with.

Arse is the heart behind this amazing project. Committed with the creation of unique yarns from his own flock of Alpacas & Angora goats. What I find more interesting in the project Alpacas El Camino is that, while keeping the well-being of his animals as his priority, Arse is a real explorer of natural fibres. He creates yarns mixing mohair, alpaca, merino wool & such interesting fibres as nettle

Really unique yarns in the Spanish map!

As he himself explains…

“At El Camino we produce honest, ethical & quality fibres…”

So….. How does the yarn created by @alpacaselcamino knits?

The yarn is characterized by its softness, it has some “halo” & an incredible variety of natural colours

The alpaca, mohair & merino fibres are responsible for that wonderful softness, while the nettle provides structure & stability to the fibre

It is an ideal yarn to create all kind of textures, specially twisted stitches because, even though the “halo” softens the final result, the amazing natural shine of the alpaca/mohair reflects the light & accentuates the texture created by the twisted stitches

A soft, warm yarn, perfect to knit cardigans, shawls & a great alternative to natural, naylon-free hand-knitted socks….
