Local Wool Study:
These are my own appreciations after knitting with the yarn
@mutur_beltz project is fascinating as they are not only trying to bring new value to the wool of carranzana sheep, but they also have an incredible artistic project that has me amazed “the artistic residence of good life”
•
Using their own words…
•
Mutur_Beltz is a life project to promote carranzana sheep, an endangered breed of sheep, as well as the traditional shepherd’s way of life. This initiative located in the Carranzana’s Valley (Bizkaia) tries to give an answer to the danger of loosing traditional, knowledge from the perspective of agro-ecology & the artistic practice
•
Even though the base is the same 100% wool from carranzana sheep, they have created a wide range of weight yarns, one ply medium weight yarn, one ply lace yarn, 3 ply yarn & an incredible 8 ply yarn
•
Also, on top of their natural colours, they have a great collaboration with @tinkatoki, who has created a fantastic range of natural dyed yarns
So….. How does the yarn created by @mutur_beltz knits?
The yarn is rustic, very rustic, which gives it unique qualities, it’s a very durable yarn & practically impermeable
•
& although is not a next-to-the-skin yarn, the wide range of weight makes it very versatile, great for knitting all types of external garments, carpets, pillows, blankets, bags ….
