Local Wool Study: Pastoreta
These are my own appreciations after knitting with the yarn
I would like to talk about a beautiful yarn created by Elena @la_belleverte.
@xollawool is a new project, yarns committed with sustainably. Located in Osona, in central Catalonia. Each year they select the fleeces, the same day that the sheep from local flocks are sheared, and they transform them into beautiful yarn, so they can bring new value to something that was considered not more than a residue.
They choose each fleece, one by one, so the best quality yarn can be created. @xollawool is a project that tries to be a link between the sheep, the shepperd, the small & local factories that transform the wool & all the people that wishes to work with local yarn.
@xollawool is born from the desire to bring back our local wools to the important position that it once had in our country …
So… how does pastoreta by @xollawool feels like while knitting?
Pastoreta by @xollawool is a rustic, 2 ply, fingering weight yarn, quite rustic & somewhat “dry” feel
However, after blocking, is a yarn that surprises by it’s transformation
Pastoreta blooms & softens considerably. So much that, without being a next-to-skin yarn, is perfect for knitting pullovers & shawls
On top of that, pastoreta is a beautiful yarn for colourwork as it maintains a perfect definition of the stitches
